Important results from the project

gardenr released our application on the AppStore and Google Play in March 2021. The purpose of the application is to drive increased biodiversity and inspire and educate about cultivation, nature and recycling. In the application you can make challenges to drive biological diversity in your garden and collect seed points, identify plants through photos and make a sketch of your garden. There are also over 300 videos in the form of gardenhacks. We have integrated with platforms such as Trefle, Movium Plantarum, Artdatabanken (database from the SLU Swedish Species Information Centre) and PlantNet.

Expected long term effects

The application is the clearest result of the project. According to plan the application is rolled out on Google Play and Appstore and has users. Integration with different platforms fills the application with important plant data and enables plant identification. The fact that we on social media have over 13,000 followers shows the potential and interest for gardening, cultivation and biodiversity and the hope is that the user growth in the app follows the same pattern.

Approach and implementation

gardenr has continuously made integrations with data sources and platforms during the project period. All resources have been involved from contact and contract to user experience and design to development, code and tests. Some sources have cost money to connect to, but most of the project cost is time spent by the project team on both sides.
