Purpose and goal
A test bed that verifies advanced driver assist systems and self-driving vehicles must have an understanding of how LIDARs acts as a vehicle sensor. This to ensure correct test methods and scenarios to be developed. LIDARs for reference measurements are important for creating reference data for test scenarios and data collection in real-life situations / environments. This reference data can be used to create virtual models of scenarios in different simulation tools. This project aims to ensure that AstaZero has both knowledge and can conduct reference measurements with LIDAR.
Expected results and effects
After completion of this project, AstaZero has increased its knowledge and ability regarding: LIDAR systems integrated into vehicles as a complementary sensor for camera systems and radar. Overview of targeting characterisation to ensure verification of LIDAR systems Purchased a LIDAR system to the track Established processes and procedures for system installation on vehicles, practical operation and how to handle the generated data Have the ability to convert the data into a format that can be used by visualizers and simulation tools.
