Purpose and goal

The project validates Biomanufacturing-as-a-Service, with Curve bridging food producers towards biomanufacturing to enable scale and resilient value chains. Curve develops a scalable, cost-efficient bioreactor platform for producing cultivated meat, precision-fermented proteins, and other novel foods. The project validates a flexible pilot-scale infrastructure supporting multiple production systems and enabling partners to test and scale processes.

Expected effects and result

Demonstrate the bioreactor platform’s scalability and versatility for emerging biotech markets, while proving Curve’s impact by reducing CAPEX by 70% and OPEX by 30%, making the process economically viable. Successful fermentation trials validate real production use cases in precision fermentation and novel foods. A stable performance and optimizing of parameters strengthens credibility and enable higher yields. Together, this supports attracting partners, customers, and investors for scale-up.

Planned approach and implementation

Conduct fermentation trials using microorganisms such as yeast, fungi, and bacteria in the bioreactor platform. Improving the system reliability by refining operational procedures, and process control strategies based on previous experiences. During fermentation trials, process data such as mixing behavior, aeration, and system response under different operating conditions will be collected. This data will support the development of a digital simulation model of the bioreactor.
