Funding from Vinnova SEK 820 645
Project duration December 2016 - December 2017
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project has created the conditions for developing a Swedish model for cooperation between large organizations. The purpose of Digital Demo Stockholm is to make use of the potential of digital technology to solve major societal challenges. The project has consistently worked on forming project teams of local and county employees, researchers and industry partners with an interest in further developing and deepening issues for research and technological solutions in the form of products and services based on public needs.

Expected results and effects

Nine DEMO projects have in various ways led to the recognition that the current procurement rules have proved sufficiently dynamic. It has been found that solutions can be developed within the existing legal framework for public procurement, so-called pro-commercial innovation zone. By working methodically with transparent learning in project form with knowledge from academia and industry, better requirements are insured for large-scale procurement.

Planned approach and implementation

A Think Tank has met physically every week. There has been process development for the collaboration between eight major organizations. A framework has been developed that all parties are behind. The project has used Openlab as a platform for physical meetings and methodological support in Design thinking. KTH has assisted with coordination and with participating researchers in DEMOs and Councils. Vinnova provided a researcher affiliated with KTH following the process. It gives valuable insights for true triple-helix collaboration between eight major organizations.
