Reference number
Coordinator REFORMTECH HEATING TECHNOLOGIES AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 4 999 000
Project duration November 2013 - October 2015
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The goal of the project was to develop a clean heater for the vehicle market and to perform standalone tests in China together with a customer. Reformtech has completed all the planned tasks and are preparing for start of production during the first quarter of 2016. Reformtech are currently negotiating with several vehicle manufacturers in China, including FAW who participated in the project. KTH has developed catalyst without platinum group metals and the results have been published at conferences and in international journals.

Expected long term effects

Reformtech has during the project developed a LIN based system and completed the construction of the heater according to plan, which has been possible through our cooperation with our partners in China, where our product was tested a feedback was provided which enabled further improvements of the product prior to the launch in 2016. The project was performed according to plan and has been very valuable for us as a company as we have gained detailed knowledge on the Chinese market and we have also developed relationships with production partners for a Chinese launch of the product.

Approach and implementation

The project has been completed using a conventional method, where we initially collected specifications from the customers, developed the product, tested the heater with the customer, reviewed the results, improved the design and finally tested product again at the customer. The project method was for us functional, however we had hoped for more continuous feedback during the external testing. We did however receive detailed reports and feedback after the testing was completed and improvements were therefore implemented. We are satisfied with the project model and the work done.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
