Purpose and goal
The aim of the project was to strengthen and implement research-based knowledge on which competences that are needed in order to increase digitalisation within production in the Swedish steel industry. The objective was to make research-based knowledge about digitalisation available, and to develop and implement a method to contextualise this knowledge so that it can be applied meaningfully in the participating organisations. Aim and objective have been achieved in workshops with two companies and an industry organisation. The project has been documented through a short film.
Expected results and effects
Workshops were organised with the management groups in the companies. Based on quotes from previous research results, four themes emerged, which were perceived as challenges in the companies´ digitalisation processes. These were Organization & Leadership, Communication, Competences & Skills and Diversity. In the last workshop, held at Jernkontoret, the themes were confirmed as relevant and interesting also by representatives of other companies. A short film was recorded within the project, where these themes and the method of using quotes in workshops are highlighted.
Planned approach and implementation
Five workshops were conducted, two at each participating company. The first two were planned based on the knowledge we received from a previous research project and quotes were used from that study. By discussing the meaning of the quotations, the participants knowledge was deepened and new insights added. The third and fourth workshops were planned according to the wishes of each management group and our analysis of the content of previous discussions. In the last workshop, the knowledge from the previous project and Kompetens 4.0 was spread in a larger context at the Jernkontoret.
