Purpose and goal
The project will develop methods for automatic calibration of 6G network digital twins to ensure that their predictions match real-world radio propagation without manual tuning. Through research visits to the University of Georgia and the University of Texas, the researcher will integrate novel calibration techniques into Ericsson’s framework and further strengthen the trilateral collaboration established under an already existing project.
Expected effects and result
The project will develop a methodology for automatic calibration of electromagnetic material properties and establish processes for using RF measurement data as ground truth for validating Network Digital Twins. Beyond technical outcomes, it will deepen collaboration between Ericsson, the University of Texas, and the University of Georgia through shared datasets and aligned research roadmaps, contributing in the long term to more energy-efficient network planning.
Planned approach and implementation
The researcher visits the University of Georgia from July 1 to 15, 2026, to work on auto-calibration of material properties and radiance field representations. During the interim period, the researcher analyzes the results obtained and prepares for the second visit. From September 15 to 30, the researcher visits the University of Texas to participate in RF measurement collection and gain understanding of their established methodologies for using these measurements as ground-truth data.
