Important results from the project
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** We have identified recycled plastic fractions from e.g. the construction sector that can be used to replace bitumen in asphalt. Experiments with dissolution in bitumen have been performed. Cooperation has been initiated with new partners for the collection of plastic and the manufacture of new asphalt.
Expected long term effects
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** More than one of the tested plastic fractions could be dissolved in bitumen within a time deemed reasonable by an asphalt manufacturer. The results will be used in a follow-up project where the quality of asphalt produced with recycled plastic can be assessed. The project results have been communicated to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and contributed to the guidance produced for sorting plastic from the construction industry.
Approach and implementation

We placed special focus on plastic flows from the construction sector, as in 2020 decisions were made on eligibility requirements for sorting. In 2021, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency has worked with a guide for sorting plastic from the construction sector. We have participated in the work and contributed information.
