Important results from the project
The goal with the project was to improve the swedish API directory (previously available at mashup.se/apikatalog) with more data and more functionality. This to inspire innovators and get more developers to use swedish APIs.
Expected long term effects
The swedish API directory now lists more swedish APIs than previously, and there are more detailed data about each API than in the earlier version of the directory. Furthermore the directory now lists applications that are using these APIs. ALl this information is openly available via the directory´s own API.
Approach and implementation
The project was implemented in 4 phases: 1) Implementing the API and the backend of the directory 2) Identify & classify swedish APIs and applications that previously was not listed in the directory 3) Update data about the APIs that were already listed in the previous version of the directory 4) Implementing a web site to present all this data and make it searchable Building the API first proved to be the right strategy since this forced us to use our own API to build the web site. Several bug fixes, performance improvements & structural changes came out of this approach resulting in a better API.
