Purpose and goal

The CargoSync feasibility study aims to investigate how a shared data platform can improve efficiency, reduce environmental impact. The feasibility study focuses on two key prerequisites: • Stakeholder specific needs, value chains and data sharing conditions. • Development of data-sharing protocol, including the design of a data governance model, identification of necessary open data sources as a foundation for the digital platform, and definition of performance metrics.

Expected effects and result

• A systematic review of previous and ongoing work, focusing on the role of digitalization in improving efficiency. • Developed practical data sharing examples with a particular focus on at least two TRB-affiliated logistics companies. • Developed data sharing protocols to ensure secure data sharing, analyze open data sources, and define performance indicators.

Planned approach and implementation

WP1. Systematically collecting and compiling the learnings from past and on-going projects, in particular the qualitative and quantitative assessments. WP2. Stakeholder Analysis: Engagement of different stakeholders via interviews and two workshops. WP3. Development of Data-sharing Protocol: Develop data-sharing protocol to secure data sharing, assess open data sources, and define performance metrics.
