Funding from Vinnova SEK 200 000
Project duration September 2013 - April 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The objective of the Blue Growth Sweden project was to establish a national advocacy platform for increased strategic participation in Horizon 2020 for the maritime-related sectors in Sweden. The project resulted in a wide and strong partnership including academia, research institutes, industry and public sector stakeholders across the country. A new application has been submitted to VINNOVA for co-funding the operation of the platform.

Results and expected effects

The project resulted in a wide partnership of stakeholders all committed to participate and contribute to the Blue Growth Sweden platform. These organisations are keen to promote Swedish interests in EU programmes and calls. Provided the application (B) is accepted there is excellent potential to increase Swedish participation in Horizon 2020 in the Blue Growth-related areas.

Approach and implementation

The project was divided into four main tasks. 1) Mapping of Swedish stakeholders in the maritime sectors, incl. a contact list. 2) Survey to analyse the organisations respective interest in EU projects in the Blue Growth area as well as to assess their interest in participating in the platform. 3) Workshop with sector stakeholders to discuss and agree on focus areas. 4) Based on the results of 1-3 write an application to VINNOVA for establishment of the Blue Growth Sweden platform.
