Purpose and goal

The starting point of the project is the city and how societal planning prepares the city´s various actors for efficient circular material flows, linked to society´s consumption. The project shows how an urban circular material flow can work by describing how a solution is implemented and commissioned in a subsequent system demonstration in a city district. The system solution includes three parts, IT solution, Physical solution and Business model. The project is implemented in Barkarby, Järfälla municipality, one of northern Europe´s largest urban development projects.

Expected results and effects

Together with affected and interested parties in the form of municipality, real estate developers, retail companies, logistics and material handling companies, the goal is to develop a basis for later implementation of a system demonstration project for future scalable urban circular city logistics and business model for multiple material flows in an immediately following project. The target area for the system demonstration is the emerging district Barkarby in Järfälla municipality.

Planned approach and implementation

The project engages important need owners in the form of municipality, real estate developers, retail and service companies, logistics and material handling companies in a reference group with a number of workshops as a form of work. In these, process mapping, review of system design and business model, and testing of an emulated future system design take place.
