Purpose and goal

The aim of enabling more advanced testing for actors on the track by increasing the test control system´s degree of integration within the business at AstaZero has been achieved and the system is more integrated today than ever before. The system is not only applied to AstaZero´s test track, but is also used in other environments such as the AWITAR test chamber at RISE. The goal of adapting AstaZero´s own test equipment has been successful with some limitations. New systems, such as drones, can automatically film through the test control system, increasing the utility of the system.

Expected results and effects

Thanks to improvements made in this project, the test control system has been used to test self-driving vehicles, which shows an increased use of the system. The project has also demonstrated a potential increase in efficiency by developing a concept that automatically moves test objects back to its starting position after the test has been completed. In addition, the project has contributed to the completion of the ISO protocol ISO 22133, which is planned to be released in autumn 2022.

Planned approach and implementation

Thanks to an agile working method, the project has been able to quickly handle changed conditions and deliver concrete results. The level of ambition in the project was high and certain work steps, such as integration of OpenSCENARIO in physical testing, turned out to be significantly more complicated than expected. In addition, the project showed challenges around ensuring robustness in longer tests, which were deemed too difficult for this project to solve.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
