Coordinator RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB - RISE RESEARCH INSTITUTES OF SWEDEN
Funding from Vinnova SEK 442 000
Project duration October 2019 - January 2020
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The project aims to evaluate the interest in a permanent Swedish presence in TelAviv to stimulate a closer exchange between two successful innovation ecosystems. We have evaluated the views of Swedish- as well as Israeli stakeholders on the planned hub. The main results are a suggestion on how to stimulate a regular dialogue between the Swedish stakeholders and relevant actors from Israel.

Expected long term effects

There is a need for identifying an appropriate owner of the Swedish-Israeli Innovation Hub/platform. The report will serve as a good starting point for anyone interested in launching an innovation hub in Tel Aviv. We’ve seen a strong interest from several multinational companies in Sweden for innovation collaborations in Israel. On the funding, there is a clear need for a two-three year basic investment. This investment setting up the hub will most likely come from Vinnova, with or without reinforcement from private equity.

Approach and implementation

The study was led by RISE project manager with an active team of three employees. The RISE team has been guided by a stearing group represented by all parties of the project. We´ve held a series of meetings with good attendance to ensure that the project delivers on the expectations of the various parties. Most results, and insights, have been generated in two forums: Partly in workshops with the project team and partly in interviews with the Swedish- and Israeli representatives in the respective innovation ecosystems.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
