Purpose and goal

The global computer games market is projected to reach a turnover of 567 billion SEK 2017, and with todays market position Swedish companies are in a position to extend their reach. Agenda:GAME is an initiativ that aims towards the creation of a national research, development and innovation strategi to support and strengthen the development of the Swedish games industry and related fields, and help create an expansive development of games as an exporting industry, and also to open new market segments.

Results and expected effects

Through the work of Agenda:GAME the need for a national strategy for the Swedish games industry has been seen to be of great importance. The project has concluded that there should be put in place broad strategies aiming towards positioning Sweden in a global context and to secure future export and growth. Agenda:GAME points toward strategic development in several areas. Policy strategies have been identified in areas ranging from finance and economics to research and culture.

Approach and implementation

The work within Agenda:GAME has been a border crossing, joint venture between actors from the games industry, industries with an interest in games and gasification, public sector, universities and institutes. The project working group has jointly put forth the groundwork for a strategic direction as well as operative work, and this work has taken the form of workshops for the identification of strategic areas, in depth area workshops, analysis and prioritization workshops, and finally documentation of the Agenda:GAME work into a report.
