Purpose and goal
The purpose of A-TEAM phase 1 is to take the first steps within three different scenario types including the research needed to complete these steps: The methods themselves, the test system and the field data research. The method research is conducted to allow the Swedish automotive cluster to develop functions that are far ahead of the current state of the art, in turn allowing the cluster to maintain and strengthen the already strong position in the world. All the goals of the purpose were met.
Results and expected effects
The overall method for research of test methods and demonstrators is validated and will be used again. The methods themselves are already used for development of active safety functions thus ensuring effect on the vehicle safety goal. The mapping of research needs has generated several applications for new research projects. Knowledge created in the project also has effect on the standardization of test targets. Targeted efficiency gains were achieved but not only through technology- process and organizational actions were also used.
Approach and implementation
The project was split into seven WPs- project management, pre study, field data research, three method packages and one demonstrator package. The overall method in the project has worked well but more clearly defined WPs for dissemination, validation and evaluation would have been good. The project has been led on two levels in parallel- the overall level and on detailed testing level. This has also worked well. Practical test method research is challenging which easily leads to delays. Focused management of the detailed planning has turned out to be a success factor.
