Purpose and goal
The project aims to develop and commercialize coatings with strong and long-lasting adhesion on plastics for different industries.
Expected effects and result
Coatings made with Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) on plastics are used to replace metals or ceramics in many industries, but adhesion is a major challenge. We have invented and patented a generally applicable technology for adhesion of PVD coatings on plastics. No such universal solution exists commercially today. Our solution creates valuable opportunities for the coating industry and customers in the automotive, food and lighting industries.
Planned approach and implementation
Further development is required for implementation, especially targeted development towards automotive and lighting applications, and to apply the adhesion solution in combination with properties. We have established cooperation with a player in the coatings industry and will develop the solution and develop customer cases in the project.
