Important results from the project

The project conducted an in-depth systems analysis of "parklekar" in the city of Stockholm in aim to strengthen children´s right to equal, safe and meaningful leisure. The goals were met by identifying organizational obstacles and challenges in the outdoor environment. The analysis shows the need for joint governance, purpose anchoring and long-term collaboration. A tool, "Klätternätet", was developed to strengthen connections and sustainability in the system surrounding the park play areas.

Expected long term effects

"Parklekarna" are a central part of the city´s range of leisure activities. Through a clearer structure, joint management and an anchored aim, better conditions are created. The project´s results contribute to developing parklekarna qualitatively and making them more needs-oriented, which in the long term makes them more attractive. Through the project, parklekarna become a more natural part of children´s everyday lives and give them the opportunity for better health and meaningful leisure time.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out according to plan as an in-depth systems analysis of parklekarna in Stockholm. Through document analysis, interviews, observations and dialogue forums, it was mapped out how the park play functions as a complex interaction between actors and levels. The work developed as planned and provided new understanding of governance and collaboration. No major external obstacles affected the process, and the collaboration between the administrations functioned well.
