Important results from the project

The goal of planning for collaboration in a full-scale project has been achieved by establishing dialogue in relevant networks that include expertise in school management and education, student health, research and other expertise. A plan for a full-scale project has been developed jointly with several actors in these systems. Early analysis and conclusions point towards important success factors for the realization of a health-promoting school environment that guide day-to-day activities .

Expected long term effects

A healthy and health promoting school environment has major long term consequences. This includes socioeconomic factors and quality of life on both individual and societal levels. A school known as a great place to work and learn will attract more qualified staff, and results in lower turnover. The school´s social mission can be fulfilled to a greater extent when a safe, health-promoting everyday life for children and young people is achieved through proactive, multi-professional collaboration.

Approach and implementation

A literature study was initially conducted as well as mapping of relevant actors within the system for school and student health. Relevant decision-makers and organizations were contacted and a dialogue was initiated. A case study of Åre school was conducted including interviews with school management, educators, specialists in student health, researchers and other experts, and workshops for multi-professional collaboration. The project progressed well with relevant expertise in the group.
