Important results from the project
The goal was ´to gather the world´s leading researchers in the field to the conference ICT4S 2014 and establish contacts between individuals from research, industry and public sector.´ This goal was met very well by the total of 200 participants (150 in the main conference) from 35 countries. The evaluation of the conference is also very positive.
Expected long term effects
One result of the project was a well executed conference, with an average satisfaction level of 4.3 on a 5-point scale, where 40% gave a rating of 5, and no one gave 1 or 2 of the 83 who responded to the survey. Participation by 70% academics and 30% from companies, governments and organizations are good. It´s a balancing act to keep high scientific quality while still getting business participation. We succeeded in this.
Approach and implementation
The conference program consisted of eight keynotes, two ´ConverStations´, four panels and two ´Best paper-nominees´ sessions. This was complemented with good social events in the evenings. Two things made the conference unique in relation to many other scientific conferences, and meant that we managed to create a very good atmosphere and a real exchange of knowledge and innovative new contacts: 1. We hired a professional moderator who participated in the planning and kept the conference together. 2. We created a presentation format ´ConverStations´. More about that on our website.
