Purpose and goal
The project aims to build and validate a physical demonstrator of 120ft Factory’s microfactory in collaboration with a leading US humanoid robot manufacturer. The goal is to integrate our software (Factory OS) with advanced hardware to autonomously assemble an unstructured consumer product at a major US tech conference. This validates the system´s capacity for flexible, local "high-mix, low-volume" production for SMEs, advancing the commercial application of Physical AI.
Expected effects and result
The expected result is a physical 120ft pilot cell where Physical AI and "Skill Wrappers" instruct a humanoid robot to perform complex assembly. Long-term, the solution will eliminate high barriers to automation for manufacturing SMEs and break reliance on rigid global supply chains. By making local production profitable, we enable true circular business models (repair and disassembly close to the customer) and significantly reduce the carbon footprint from global transportation.
Planned approach and implementation
The 10-month project is divided into four iterative work packages. We apply a "Digital Twin First" methodology where the Physical AI is initially trained in a physics-based simulation before the code is deployed to the hardware. The approach includes system integration, building the 120ft physical cell, and "hardware-in-the-loop" field tests at our US partner´s facility. This culminates in a public live demonstration in the US for a global industrial and technological audience.
