The challenges facing today's society are both complex and everyday, but also global and local. Whether they are about poverty, climate change or inequalities in health, individual, private or sector-specific, individual efforts are not enough. Changes are required at the system level. If we are to achieve a sustainable future in time, we must think and cooperate in new ways.
A mission-oriented approach can contribute to this, where different actors work in the same direction towards common objective and enable the conditions and lead the way to system changes.
Mission-oriented approach
A mission-oriented approach aims to achieve system change through active participation. Actors from different sectors, industries and disciplines come together to design and design a bold, ambitious, inspiring and measurable objective that addresses a major challenge, a guiding star, around which several project and activities can co-create. The goal must have an effect on society and politics, but also be relevant to a large part of the population. This helps to make it concrete, relevant and testable, through prototypes and demonstrators.
Sweden Innovation Days
In connection with Sweden Innovation Days - Vinnova's annual international event, the publication " Mission-oriented innovation in Sweden - a practice guide by Vinnova" is launched.
During the seminar, Dan Hill will talk about Vinnova's work in exploring how a mission-oriented approach can work in reality. We will also get examples of Swedish project that have worked mission-oriented, as well as the opportunity to discuss and raise broader insights for innovation, policy-making and governance.
