  • What do we want to finance?

Innovation and collaboration are more important than ever and necessary to achieve a sustainable society. Therefore, we want to finance collaborative projects that become an important part of the societal transformation that is needed and the proposal must clearly demonstrate how you contribute to the sustainability goals in Agenda 2030. Cooperation projects will strengthen Swedish competitiveness through sustainable development and business benefits and lead to increased social benefits.

Important challenges we want to see proposals within are project to reduce the climate impact through the transition to a sustainable industry, production and consumption as well as a fossil-free transport sector. Development of attractive and sustainable cities as well as social innovations that lead to reduced exclusion and a more inclusive society are examples of other challenge areas.

We also need welfare innovations that lead to good health for everyone where solutions for prevention - disease prevention activities - and healthy lifestyles are necessary if we are to meet the challenges of the future health and medical care.

    Funding in three steps

Inom UDI can project get funding in three stages: initiation, collaborative projects and Implementation. In order for the projects to work long-term in solving the complex societal challenges, we grant larger sums in steps 2 and 3.

    1. In step 1 Initiation, the focus is on developing your idea of innovation and planning for how it should be developed and used. Other important activities are to deepen the needs analysis and to seek collaboration with more actors. In the first step, the project can apply for a maximum of SEK 500,000.
    2. In step 2 Collaboration projects, collaboration between the actors is deepened and you begin to develop and test your innovative solutions. In the second step, the project can apply for a maximum of SEK 10 million. Read more about step 2 collaboration projects.
    3. In step 3 Implementation, it is about testing and introducing the results / results on a larger scale and in reality. The work also includes laying the foundation for how the business model looks and how distribution and upscaling will take place for utilization. In the third and final step, the project can apply for a maximum of SEK 20 million. Read more about step 3 implementation.
In order to search for the next step, the project must have been completed and approved in the previous step. Thus, new project start in step 1. Each step opens for proposals once in the spring and once in the fall.
