System-of-systems for urban mobility - spring 2019

This offer is targeting actors who, in collaboration, want to develop and validate future solutions for transport in cities based on system-of-systems. With system-of-systems we mean that different independent systems work together to create better effects than individual systems can do. The purpose is to better manage challenges in the urban transport systems, such as transport efficiency, quality, environmental impact, safety and resource utilization.

What can you apply for?

Full-scale projects where actors in collaboration develop and validate future solutions for transport in cities based on system-of-systems. If possible, we also like to see demonstrators of developed solutions.

Who can apply?

Groups of actors representing different stakeholders linked to a transport need, such as vehicle manufacturers, transport companies, infrastructure owners, property owners, research institutes and universities.

How much can you apply for?

There is no upper limit on the project budget. Vinnova finances a maximum of 50 percent of the total project budget, while support levels per organisation are governed by the rules on state aid. Each individual project needs at least 25 percent co-financing from the business sector. Maximum length of the projects funded is 3 years.

    By system-of-systems we mean that different independent systems work together to create better effects than individual systems can do. The aim of the collaboration is to better manage the challenges in the urban transport systems, such as transport efficiency , quality, environmental impact, safety and resource utilization.

    The project awarded grant under this call for proposal have to:

    1. Examine one or more specific transport needs in cities.
    2. Evaluate what the effects can be if new solutions based on system-of-systems are introduced for these needs.
    3. Be based on collaboration in a system-of-system, and thus involving several relevant stakeholders.
    4. Consider changes in human behaviour that may be a prerequisite for, or effect of, the proposed solutions.

    Furthermore, the project should address at least one of the knowledge challenges within system-of-systems for urban mobility that have been identified in the programme description that has been developed.

    Who are we targeting?

    This offer is aimed at groups of actors who represent different stakeholders linked to a transport need that they want to solve. Examples of actors are:

    • Vehicle manufacturers and their suppliers
    • Transport and logistics companies
    • Road administrators and public authority 
    • Infrastructure owners
    • Service Developers
    • Property owners
    • Universities and research institutes
    • Civic groups

    Note that this list is not complete, the projects may also include other types of actors depending on the nature of the transport needs and the solution.

    How to apply

    To apply for funding, you need to complete an application form in our application portal, Intressentportalen. The form contains questions about your project, project members and budget.

    Allow enough time to complete the application

    Keep in mind that it can take several days to gather the information you need to complete your application, so it’s a good idea to start early. You can start to fill in your details, save and make adjustments until the call has closed.

    What happens after the call has closed?

    Once your application has been registered, we'll send a confirmation email to the person responsible for the user account, as well as to the project manager and the company signer. Please note that this may take a few hours after the call has closed.

    After the closing date, you can't register any new information. You may only add information to your application if we ask for it.

    Who can read your application?

    Applications submitted to us become official documents. However, we don't disclose information about business operations, inventions or research results if it can be assumed that someone will suffer economic damage if we do.

    This means that we must disclose the documents if someone requests them. However, we can black out information if we believe it could cause economic harm if disclosed.
