FORSKNING OCH INNOVATION FöR HÅLLBAR TILLVÄXT
The global financial crisis and ever-deepening recession hold serious challenges for Sweden and the rest of the world. Several big companies of importance to Sweden are facing major changes, which will in turn affect employees, subcontractors and society at large. VINNOVA is monitoring this development closely, which ultimately carries the grave risk of heavily reduced investment in innovation. This could have serious consequences for the Swedish innovation system’s capacity to generate Swedish competitiveness and new jobs. As a research and innovation funding body, our responsibility is therefore great. It means utilising the public funds we administer as effectively as possible. Successful initiatives will contribute to a more rapid adjustment, renewal and accelerating growth when the recession loosens its grip.
