The last calls within the EU's Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Development (FP7) opened in July 2012. This year´s budget of 8 billion euro is the largest since the start of FP7 in 2007.
On 16 August VINNOVA and YKI arranged an Information Day about the last call for research funding within FP7, Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Materials and new Production Technologies – NMP. The first deadline for proposals is expected by mid-October 2012.
The Information Day specifically aimed at researchers at universities, institutes and companies, who are actively seeking research funding for collaborative projects within the fields of Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Materials and new Production Technologies - NMP.

NMP Theme
Calls of the NMP Theme in 2013 will continue to span the spectrum from enabling research, to applications and demonstration activities, with an ongoing emphasis on applications including demonstration. A key feature of the 2013 work programme (WP) is the continuation of the Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs): 'Factories of the Future', 'Energy efficient Buildings' and 'Green Cars'. With regard to specific applications, some of the following issues are also addressed: Environmental issues and sustainable development, Raw Materials and Nanomedicine & Materials for health.
It´s important to note that the NMP theme pays particular attention to the involvement of industry, through its direct participation in projects and that participation of SMEs is strongly encouraged.
The meeting provided an opportunity to meet Dr Johan Veiga Benesch, a project officer at the Industrial Technologies Materials unit at the European Commission. Dr Johan Veiga Benesch gave an overview of the opportunities within the upcoming FP7 NMP call.
