Updated: 12 June 2013
Today, Ed Miliband, leader of the British Labour Party, together with members of his shadow cabinet visited VINNOVA. Miliband said that innovation issues are a priority for him and that he wanted to learn more about how Sweden manages innovations.
Charlotte Brogren, Director General of VINNOVA, presented the Swedish innovation policy and VINNOVA. A particular focus was put on how VINNOVA works to bring societal challenges at the heart of innovation efforts, i.e. investment in strategic areas of innovation and challenge-driven innovation. Ed Miliband also expressed a strong interest in innovation procurement and management of intellectual property.
Accompanying Ed Miliband on the visit were Jennie Nilsson, Swedish MP and economic policy spokesperson for the Socialdemocrats, the British shadow ministers Douglas Alexander and Stewart Wood and British journalists from the BBC, The Times and The Telegraph.
