The Euroscience Open Forum, ESOF, is Europe’s largest forum for science and research and this year it is to be held in Dublin from 11 to 15 July. The Swedish research funding agencies are organizing a lunch seminar and have an exhibition stand on the theme of antibiotic resistance.
At the ESOF in Dublin, the Swedish research funding agencies; the Swedish Research Council, FAS the Swedish Council for Working Life and Social Research, Formas and VINNOVA have a mutual exhibition stand on the theme of antibiotic resistance, as well as the exhibition “The Good. The Bad. The Ugly”. The aim of the research funding agencies’ efforts is to increase awareness and knowledge of antibiotic resistance, but also to highlight the behavioural changes which the world needs to go through in order to stop the continued spread of antibiotic resistance.
At the interactive exhibition stand the visitors will be able to become a doctor for a day and to learn what every individual can do to help stop the spread of antibiotic resistance. On 12 July the research funding agencies are organising a media breakfast and the lunch seminar “We are facing a world without antibiotics — Who takes responsibility?” Among the participants are: Otto Cars from ReACT and Uppsala University, Ulrika Grönlund Andersson from the Swedish National Veterinary Institute, Christian Kinch from Bactiguard, Erik Chorell from Umeå University, Richard Bergström from EFPIA and Jan Grawé from Q-linea. Carl Johan Sundberg from the Karolinska Institutet will act as the moderator.
