The Vehicle and Traffic Safety programme targets vehicle-related research, innovation and development activities within the following areas:
• Intelligent safety systems
• Human cognition and tolerance
• Crashworthiness (passive and active)
• Field studies (e.g. real-life-safety)
• Unprotected road-users
• Security (e.g. personal protection/integrity)
• Other related areas with the potential to strengthen the competitive power of Sweden and the Swedish automotive industry in a global perspective.
The objectives of the Vehicle and Traffic Safety programme are to contribute to the development of Zero Vision vehicles, i.e. vehicles with an optimum combination of active and passive systems to reduce the number of accidents and the consequences of those accidents which nevertheless occur.
