Japan Scholarships

VINNOVA supports international exchanges by providing grants for R&D projects. In their applications to VINNOVA for grants for such projects, applicants also have the opportunity to apply for funds for international exchanges. Funding for brief study visits or longer visits to Japan is only provided within the framework of collaboration projects of this type.

VINNOVA itself has no scholarships for visits to Japan but has been appointed by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS Fellowship Programme) to act as one of the nominating authorities in Sweden for their scholarships. VINNOVA has been allocated a quota of seven researchers/fellows. The nominations must be submitted to JSPS no later than 31 July.

There are various forms of scholarship relating, for example, to short stays (14-60 days) mainly for senior researchers and professors, a post-doc programme (1-2 years) for researchers who gained their doctorate less than six years ago and a post-doc programme (6-10 months) for researchers who gained their doctorate more than six years ago.
