In the ERA-NET networks, the European Commission has created an instrument for co-operation with research funders in other EU countries. The aim is to strengthen European R&D collaboration and, in the long term, to open up national programmes to participation by researchers from other countries and thus support the rationalisation of R&D efforts in Europe. Sweden’s two NCP (National Contact Points) for ERA-NET are at VINNOVA and at the Swedish Research Council.
The European Commission provides grants for the additional costs incurred by research funders for related planning work.
VINNOVA is involved in 5 ERA-NET projects that fall within the block “Strengthen the Foundations for the European Research Area”. VINNOVA is also involved in one ERA-NET project, Cosine 2, that belong to Theme 2, “Technology for the Information Society”.
